NIA AND DAR TURNOVER P10-MILLION PROJECT IN EASTERN SAMAR

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC), completed and turnover the P10-million project in Jicontol Communal Irrigation System (CIS) to the Jicontol Irrigators Service Association (JISA), Inc. on April 22, 2021.

In behalf of the JISA, IA President Pablo C. Opalalic, accepted the turned over project. “Gidadakui hit amon pasasalamat hini nga proyekto nga amon nakarawat tikang ha gobyerno. Makakabulig gud ini ha amon nga mga parag-uma para mag-improve it amon panginabuhi. Magbubulig kami hini nga tanan para alagaan ini nga proyekto (We are grateful for this project we have received from the government. This will help us improve our livelihood. The IA will help one another in taking care of this project)”, he expressed.

The project includes repair and improvement of irrigation facilities to continuously provide timely and reliable irrigation water to 1,500 hectares service area, benefitting 800 farmers in six (6) barangays of Dolores, Eastern Samar (Buenavista, Jicontol, Gap-ang, Hinulaso, Magumbong, and Cabaguan).

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dolores committed to provide the JISA, a gate keeper to improve its water distribution.

The Acting Regional Manager, Ruby C. Tuan, Jr., spearheaded the turnover ceremony, on behalf of the NIA Administrator, Ricardo R Visaya.

Joining the said turnover were Rev. Fr. Juberto A. Picardal, DAR-PARCCOM Chairman; LGU and BLGU Representatives; and IA officers and Members.
