In behalf of the NIA Management, spearheaded by Administrator Ricardo R Visaya, the Operation Department Manager Delsy J. Revellame; System Management Division (SMD) Manager Eusebio S. Villamanto; and SMD Area Engineer Louie V. Mendoza, conducted a site visit in Basey Irrigation Project (IP) on March 4, 2021.

The NIA RO 8 Acting Regional Manager Ruby C. Tuan Jr., together with the Operation Department Manager Engr. Delsy J. Revellame, attended the portfolio review meeting for FY 2020/2021 conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on March 3, 2021 via teleconferencing.

The meeting focused on the (1) priority agenda in the sector including updates on policies and programs; (2) implementation review of ongoing projects with critical issues; and (3) updates on the status of completed projects with pending/sustainability issues.

Also, other concerned NIA Officials attended the said activity.

In line with the thrust of the NIA Administrator Ricardo R Visaya, to complete previous years projects and to institute measures to improve delivery of NIA services, the Operation Department Manager, Delsy J. Revellame; Systems Management Division (SMD) Manager, Eusebio S. Villamanto; SMD Area Engineer, Louie V. Mendoza, and RO 8 CARP Monitor, Renzo M. Mercado, conducted a coordination meeting with NIA RO 8 staff headed by the Acting Regional Manager Ruby C. Tuan, Jr. on March 3, 2021.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 8, spearheaded by the Acting Regional Manager Ruby C. Tuan, Jr., aims to complete four (4) Solar Powered Irrigation Systems (SPIS) this CY 2021. These projects are Bahay Small Irrigation Project (SIP); Camire Communal Irrigation Project (CIP); Kan-ipa Communal Irrigation System (CIS); and May-it SIP.

The construction and installation of three (3) sites of solar pump works, amounting to 16.6M for Bahay SIP in San Miguel, Leyte is expected to serve a total of 108 hectares with 33 farmer beneficiaries of Bahay-San Miguel Irrigators Association, Incorporated.

The National Irrigation Administration Region 8 participated the NIA-wide Ushering for CY 2021 with the theme, “2021: Fostering Resiliency and Efficiency for Proficient Service through Innovations and Modernization”. Acting Regional Manager, Ruby C. Tuan Jr., spearheaded the unveiling of the Aperture Optimism Board and was assisted by Norma M. Monisit (EOD Manager), Anacleta C. Velasco (AFD Manager), and representatives from the Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs).
