CONDUCT OF FINALIZATION OF CY 2021 INVENTORY OF IRRIGATION SYSTEMS

Region 8—The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) conducts its annual inventory of irrigation systems on January 25-27, 2022 to finalize regional CY 2021 inventory of irrigation systems, and reconcile data of project physical accomplishments and O&M performance.

The Operation Department Manager, Delsy J. Revellame; Systems Management Division (SMD) Manager, Eusebio S. Villamanto; SMD Area Engineers, Louie V. Mendoza and Glenn Dexter B. Laurente, attended the activity and provided recommendations and technical guidance to improve data entry, as well as to close the gap of potential irrigable area in Eastern Visayas.

Base on the initial data on the Status of Irrigation Development as of December 31, 2021, region 8 has a total service area of 81,162 hectares or 69.20% of the total potential irrigable area of 117,279 hectares in the region, with an increment of 2,258 hectares compared to CY 2020 data.

Hence, the NIA-RO8, spearheaded by Ruby C. Tuan, Jr., will continue to plan and strategize a climate adaptive irrigation system for the development of remaining irrigable area in pursuit for resiliency and efficiency, despite the extreme weather events experienced in the region.
