Tree planting 2022 the NIA way In celebration of the National Irrigation Administration 59th Anniversary, the region participated the simultaneous nationwide tree planting activity under the National Greening Program (NGP) with the theme, “Trees.Water.Life. 2022 Greening the Philippines the NIA Way” on June 29,2022 in the watershed of BITO River Irrigation System, Abuyog, Leyte. This aims to aid the restoration of water cycle in the watershed, prevent erosion, and reduce catastrophic flooding in the community. A total of 500 seedlings of indigenous trees such as, Poso2x , Narra, Hindang, and Kalumpet. Native or indigenous trees helps recover and protect the watershed and fresh water resources to secure the livelihood of the local people. In participation with the employees of the National Irrigation Administration Region VIII, led by the Regional Manager, Engr. Ruby C. Tuan, Jr., BLNLS IMO Division Manager Engr. Conrado M. Samson, EOD Manager Engr. Jojo A. Arceño together with the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources – CENRO Baybay City, Leyte ( Gemmil Manaybanay, Anna Mae Libres, Franklin Caluban, Emelie L. Buligan, Mary Jane Lora), in coordination with the People’s Organization of CASAMA UD Efren M. Entero, Lolita B. Entero, Dalmacio Atchecoso, Joel P. Orias, and Rodel C.
