August 14, 2024 – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VIII conducted a turnover ceremony of the Irrigators Association (IA) Model Farm to Golden River West IA, Incorporated in Sitio Ola-og, Brgy. Burgos, Basey Samar.
This 1.93-hectare model farm will benefit 244 farmer-members of the recipient IA, with facilities including a greenhouse and a water system worth one million pesos which aims to improve agricultural practices and provide additional livelihood to its beneficiaries.
NIA Region VIII Regional Manager Engr. Jaime C. De Jesus spearheaded the ceremony together with NIA Central Office Institutional Development Division Manager Martin T. Tacloban, NIA EWSIMO Acting Manager Engr. Rizalina B. Gallarde and Basey Irrigation System Satellite Office Officer-in-Charge Engr. Andy Bonn Jabian. The Golden River West IA, Inc. headed by its IA President Samuel Gaddi gratefully received the symbolic key from NIA officials symbolizing their acceptance of the operation and maintenance of the Model Farm.
On behalf of the Golden River West IA, Inc., IA President Samuel Gaddi, accepted the turned over project and expressed his gratitude, "Sa lahat ng farmers ng Golden River West IA, ang gobyerno ay tumutulong na satin, magtulong-tulong tayo, dahil sa pagkakaisa magiging successful ang programang ito at ang ating asosasyon. Muli sa ngalan ng Golden River West IA, Inc., maraming maraming salamat po."
Also present to witness this significant milestone is the Local Chief Executive of the Municipality of Basey, Hon. Luz Chu Ponferrada, Municipal Agriculturist Jesus Jabines, Punong Barangay of Brgy. Burgos Hon. Samuel Tabucao, LTC Eduardo Meclat Jr., IA Officials and members, other Barangay Officials, LGU Staff and NIA Employees.
