HEALTH EDUCATION AND MASS DRUG ADMINISTRATION FOR SCHISTOSOMIASIS PREVENTION AND CONTROL

As an initiative to safeguard and improve its employee’s health, the National Irrigation Administration Regional Office VIII conducts a Health Education and Mass Drug Administration Program for Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control, on February 6, 2025 at NIA VIII, Training Center, Marasabaras, Tacloban City.

While schistosomiasis is an endemic infectious disease and a significant public health issue in the Region, it is oftentimes overlooked. That is why education and awareness about schistosomiasis transmission, symptoms, prevention and treatment will help in reducing infection rates in the work environment, contributing to a healthier and more productive workforce.

This activity was made possible by Department of Health Schistosomiasis Research and Training Center led by Dr. Jami D. Abalos, Head of the Infectious & Multidisciplinary Unit and the City Health Office of Tacloban led by Dianna Kristine Calahi.
