The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), officially turned over the Pajo Communal Irrigation System (CIS) to the Pajo-Bahay Irrigators Association (IA), Incorporated, on February 26, 2025, held at the Barangay Pajo Court Stage, Tarangnan, Samar.
To fully irrigate the 130-hectare service area of Pajo CIS, the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program—Irrigation Component (CARP-IC) allocates 12,000,000 CY 2023 funds for the completion of the said system, which includes the construction of concrete-lined canals and other water distribution facilities. Pajo-Bahay IA, Inc. is the recipient of this project since Barangay Pajo was part of the St. Francis Agrarian Reform Community.
Officials from the Municipal Agriculture Office and Department of Agrarian Reform also shared their messages of support, reaffirming their commitment to empowering local farmers through sustainable agricultural initiatives.
In her turnover message, Engr. Rizalina Gallarde, Eastern Western Samar IMO Manager, highlights the importance of the system in improving irrigation access and boosting farm productivity in Tarangan, Samar.
The ceremony’s highlight was the official turnover of the symbolic key to the Pajo-Bahay IA Inc., symbolizing the transfer of management and responsibility for the irrigation system.
Pajo-Bahay IA, Inc. President Jose T. Estopa Sr. expressed his heartfelt gratitude, assuring that the Pajo CIS will be properly used and maintained to maximize its benefits and ensure it serves future generations.
The Pajo CIS affirms the BayaNIAn sa Bagong Pilipinas initiative, reinforcing the government’s dedication to strengthening the agricultural sector. By providing reliable irrigation, the project ensures improved crop yields, increased farmer productivity, and long-term food sustainability in Tarangnan, Samar.
