The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VIII, in celebration of Women’s Month, conducted the "Nurturing Initiative and Awareness for Hypertension and Obesity" on March 26, 2025, at the NIA Region VIII Covered Court in Marasbaras, Tacloban City.
The activity featured a symposium discussing the risks of obesity and hypertension among employees, as well as effective methods for preventing these conditions.
Topics on nutrition and healthy eating were also tackled, educating participants on the significance of maintaining a balanced diet. Additionally, our partner from Unilab conducted free blood glucose and uric acid tests for NIA employees aged 35 and above.
During the activity, NIA introduced the Nurturing Initiative and Awareness for a Fitter, Healthier Workforce (NIA FIT) Program, which aims to encourage healthier lifestyles and promote physical activity among employees, thus fostering a healthier workforce.
Present at the activity were Regional Manager Jaime C. De Jesus, Administrative and Finance Division Manager Arnel B. Mendoza, Dr. Razil Lyn Romero, and Ms. Louise Angeli E. Dayondon, who served as resource speakers. Representatives from Unilab and Pharex also participated, distributing free samples of vitamins and supplements to the employees.
