The NIA Region VIII, represented by the Public Relations Team as members of the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO), participates the Information Caravan on Masaganang Agrikultura, Maunlad na Ekonomiya in Sports Center, Calbayog City, Samar.

The Department of Agriculture - Agriculture and Fisheries Information Division (DA-AFID) facilitates the activity, in coordination with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the AGIO VIII.

This aims to disseminate relevant information on projects, programs, and other available assistance from the DA and various government agencies, including NIA.

Seventy-nine (79) respondents of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VIII, composed of the Regional Manager, Division Managers, Section Chiefs, Unit Heads, and Project-in-Charge of the Regional Office and three (3) Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs), participated in the Administration of Operations Level - Internal Control Checklist (ICC) for Baseline Assessment of Internal Control Systems (BAICS), facilitated by the Internal Audit Services (IAS) on May 8-9, 2023 at the NIA 8 Training Center, Marasbaras, Tacloban City.

Region VIII—The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) convened on July 17, 2023 to discuss matters relative to repair, rehabilitation, and preventing degradation of irrigation facilities, seeking the technical assistance and resources of the DPWH.

Based on the proposed projects that would be implemented in partnership with the DPWH, as presented by Engr. Conrado M. Samson, expected interventions include the construction of sabo dams, flood control, and improvement of service roads.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC), turnover the newly completed Cabibihan Small Irrigation Project (SIP) to fifty-four (54) farmer beneficiaries, 28 of which are agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), of Cabacungan-Riverside-Cabibihan Irrigators Association (IA), Incorporated, led by Noli R. Lipalam.

This project aims to provide timely and reliable irrigation water to 115 hectares service area in Barangay Cabibihan, Caibiran, Biliran.

In response to one of the Agenda of our President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. – improving the country’s agricultural production and achieving the highest possible rice sufficiency and food security, the Department of Agriculture and its attached agencies, including the National Irrigation Administration and all other representatives from various Government and Private Agencies in the region, convened for the Masagana Rice Industry Development Program (MRIDP) Convergence Coordination Meeting, on July 11, 2023 at NIA Regional Office 8 Training Center, Marasbaras, Tacloban City.

The Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Team of the region conducts audit on the management, core, support, and ISO core teams processes on September 20 & 22, 2022.

The audit aims to assess the effectiveness of the organization's quality management system (QMS) and its overall performance. Likewise, assess the processes being implemented and maintained, gearing towards the attainment of Agency's objectives and reaching the optimum satisfaction of the Filipino farmers.
